Another Good Weekend of Lax

Another #1 seed goes down tonight...can't believe the 'Cuse is out! It really doesn't matter to me as my NCAA pool is done anyway. I just remembered I still have to pay the entrance fee, I forgot to respond to the email I got earlier in the week. It was pretty funny, the guy who runs the pool sent out an email on Monday....after Kansas lost he had to make sure he got the word out with so many people out of contention.....Nice work LB! I just read on the tv screen that Cornell plays tonight....I seriously had no clue they had made it this far. Shout out to the Big Red!

There's a couple of big college lacrosse games this weekend. Hopkins goes to UVA on a 3 game losing streak. Virginia is 8-0 and ranked #1. The Wahoo's are tough as they have some horses at the midfield, Hopkins strength is there defense...so you could see something very interesting occur. Look for Hopkins to slow it down and try not to let the Cav's run loose in-between the lines. It's a big one for Hopkins, other players started to step up at the midfield (freshman Greeley) in the loss to Syracuse but they need to cut down on the turnovers in the offensive end of the field to have a chance. The attack needs to step up and take some of the pressure off of Kimmel. I think UVA takes this one in the end though.

Duke at Georgetown, this is another big game at the midpoint of the season. Duke has 3 losses and G'Town has 2. Both teams are coming off of convincing wins last week, Duke over Dartmouth and the Hoyas over Providence. So, they're both feeling pretty confident coming into this game. I think Duke needs a big win against a quality opponent, this could be the game that gets their edge back. I'm taking the Dookies, 13-8.

Maryland at Carolina.....this is personal. Remember that guy who runs the pool (yes I know you're reading this)....what do you say we put a little wager on the game? Seriously, this will be a great game. Both teams are playing very well right now, Maryland is clicking offensively and Catalino is on fire. I like Carolina's defense though matched up against the Terp's attack. If Bitter is healthy, I think he creates problems for Maryland's defense and Carolina is deeper at the midfield. The game will come down to the Heel's abiility to spread the rock as they've done in their previous wins. When multiple guys are scoring and different people are stepping up (Jimmy Dunster, ACC Player of the week)....teams are hard to beat. UNC 12, Twerps 10.

Last week if you recall I wrote about our coaches meeting, well today we filled those six spots we were discussing that night. These past couple of days I was pretty busy; on the phone with the potential players (nine total), then had several conversations with the staff and our VP before we pulled the trigger. Read who we picked up at www.bostoncannons.com

Next Friday, Casey Powell and I are at Waltham High school doing a clinic from 9-11, there's still room so sign up and come down and hang. You can register at www.caseypowell.com

High School games in Massachusetts are starting up next week. I have to ask the question.....Is your stick legal? Whether you play by NCAA or NFHS rules, make sure it's legal before you step on the field to play. During pre-game warm ups ask the referee to take a look at it. If you're a fogo, make sure you're keeping a close eye on it. Don't be that guy to get the 3 minute unreleasable penalty and put your team in a bad situation. Just ask.
